Billys been living at the old motel
By the Army/Navy and the Taco Bell
Billy’s been sober going on three years
But on a day like this one he could use a beer

So he pulls his shirt and his sneakers on

When the bell on the door of the Quik Mart rings

He walks by the coolers filled with ice cold beer
Walks to the coffee pots way back in the rear
Eight packs of sugar and he fills it to the rim

Billy sits in his room with the TV on
Five long hours till the work day starts
Picking up class rooms pushing a broom
He’s got the night time shift at the local school

He’s got a set of keys that open every door
Takes out the garbage, cleans the toilets, and waxes the floors
He works a forty hour week for minimum
